SOLIDARITY STREET GALLERY is pleased to invite everyone to the third edition of its annual, one-of-a-kind art and cultural festival along Payne Avenue on the East Side of St. Paul, MN. For two days, on Friday, September 9 (5-10 PM), and on Saturday, September 10 (11 Noon – 10 PM), Payne Avenue will transform into a lively art and street fair. The community-centered event brings together neighbors and visitors with artists, performers, makers, community organizations, civic leaders, and local businesses to celebrate all the diverse groups who call the Eastside of St. Paul their home. The event is family friendly and free. Enjoy an early fall day outdoors, with family and friends, and: • explore high-quality fine-art art exhibitions at several galleries and in numerous storefronts along the avenue • witness the stories and talent of all the musicians, dancers, spoken word artists and others who will come together, on an outdoor stage, for a multicultural performance program • take in additional singers and bands at established, local entertainment venues, focused on serving youth and young adults in alcohol-free environments • enjoy and learn from a broad range of interactive art and other community activities, for all ages • shop our Southeast Asian Street Market for all the self-made or hand-produced arts, crafts, apparel, accessories, and other goods offered by a diverse array of makers and vendors • taste all the unique and scrumptious foods at some of the excellent local restaurants on Payne Avenue, and from additional food vendors in the Southeast Asian Street Market The theme for 2022 is ‘RESILIENT GENERATIONS – An Artistic Celebration of Southeast Asian Culture and History.’ We are assembling an outstanding cast of visual artists, performers, writers, and other creatives to share works that reflect on the immigrant experiences of being forced from a homeland, often under traumatic circumstances; of rebuilding lives in a new diaspora home; and of establishing a new identity while revitalizing culture, language, and history across generations. Please join us to stand in unity and solidarity with all who have shown and continue to show resilience every day – and to salute the resilience of our entire community as we all long to emerge from the COVID pandemic and return to some form of normalcy.
