Thursday Sep 3 - The East Side Community Investment Cooperative (ESCIC pron S-Kick!) successfully closed on 960 Payne Ave - the longtime location of St. Paul Floral on the corner of Payne and Case. The co-op purchased the building from the Land Bank Twin Cities which has an East Side Real Estate strategy to help bolster local ownership.
There was much fanfare on Thursday with technical assistance providers including Nexus Community Partners, board members of the Land Bank, and Board members of ESCIC along with Councilmember Cheniqua Johnson and St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her.
The next step for the Co-op is to find a commercial tenant and continue raising funds to move from purchase to operations.
Contact President of the cooperative Giovonnia Harris or Board member Ben Werner if you are interested in being a tenant of the commercial space.
See the Preferred Stock Offering Memorandum and information about investing to get more involved with East Side ownership and local control.
