Skatepark Update

The Taskforce began exploring the possibility of building a skatepark at Payne and York last summer.Our leadership includes board members from Midwest Skateboarding Alliance, Mat Graske from Caydence Records & Coffee, Eastside skate enthusiasts, and Krista Schnelle, author of this article.

We held a successful event at Caydence on October 3 in conjunction with the Solidarity Street Gallery on Payne. We had a live DJ, skate demos, artists, and collected survey responses from almost 100 people.

Taskforce members have attended meetings with the City's Capital Improvements Budget committee, Payne-Phalen Community Council, Councilmember Yang, and others. It seems like word is getting out and excitement building around the project.
