The Dream of Michoacán 

Enter 2018, when La Michoacana Purépecha first opened its door, bringing to 701 Lake Street authentic and unique frozen treats, a socially responsible business, and making it their personal mission to support indigenous communities, particularly that of Michoacán, Mexico.  

The Story

Immigrating from Michoacán, Mexico, the owners dreamed of one day opening their own ice cream shop, offering customers and local East Side St. Paul residents an original experience enjoying their favorite traditional childhood treats. 

Offering a colorful and flavor-packed menu: 

It is hard to beat the deliciously cold popsicles La Michoacán offers, but, with over more than 50 fruit filled bars, do not be surprised if your decision takes hard contemplation! Alongside the delightful selection of popsicles, they offer a range of more than 30 flavors of heavenly looking and tasting ice creams. Refreshingly fruity drinks are available, filled with cucumber, cantaloupe, banana, mango, and pineapple. Let us not forget the exclusive yogurts again filled with natural fruits, chicharrons, and Doritos topped with creamy queso, tomatoes, lettuce, and fresh avocado. Fruit cups and shakes, tortas and sandwiches, Mexican-style prepared sweet corn and esquites, and much more.  

Social Mission:  

La Michoacana supports the students in their community, excitedly asking students to enroll in the Student Passport Program, where students can show the store their good grades with their current reports card. Once the good grades are recognized, students then obtain their own Student Passport, where throughout the school year they can obtain one free cone and stickers to add and decorate their passports!
